Gram kayak is a one-person company I run for fun.
It has existed for some years, but from the beginning of 2007 in a more organiced form. 

Why was it paddles and kayaks I threw myself over?
After many years of sailing yachts and dinghies, I wanted something more manageable on the water. Something you could use without a lot of preparation, and without having to make agreements with other people. So the kayak!

I could not really find one which was both seaworthy, fast, nice and cheap, so I built a Kavat ( a Bjötm Thommasson design ) of pine. It met all the criteria - almost - it was not as pretty as I wanted. There has since been built a few more kayaks. The last seen below, and it meets almost all my needs. Inside the head there is a small playkayak, but it takes some thinking.

Strip kajak
An oddly parked kayak close to my home, close to Aarhus Bay. It was an unusually nice day to paddle in. A Kayak trip ca´lls for coffee brakes. The beach is stone filled, and as the kayak does not weigh very much, I usually put it up on one of the many fallen trees along the coast.


Although the firm is called Gram KAYAK, I primarily produce paddles.
I quickly discovered that the normal paddles gave me all sorts of problems
with sore here and there. Most were also far too mechanically unstable.
They did not give me an experience of using a quality product, unless I would
sacrifice 300-500USD - and I would not. So I start to build by myself.
I made many paddles, and paddlers I meet asked if they could buy one. In
the beginning I could not have the heart to sell them, but who can use 50
paddles?

Through the years I have made many different styles of paddles. I think I
have experimented myself to the optimal paddle today. This does not mean I
have stopped playing with the tree and take advantage of its many options.
