Wood is a wonderful material.
Beautiful when it is with green leaves, or powdered with white snow. Benefits us all when producing oxygen, and at the end of its life, becomes a building material or CO 2-neutral fuel.

To manufacture a Gram Paddle I use mostly red and yellow cedar. These  species are characterized by being light and strong. Yellow Cedar is also nice to work with, while Red Cedar tends to give more allergic reactions, probably because of the narurlige oil content. Both wood smells wonderful during processing. Edges are created of hardwood. 		The vast majority of paddles I have produced have edge reinforcement. Mainly bacause red cedar is a soft wood, and because it looks nice. Reinforcement is made of edges of hardwood, and tip with a larger bit, which can be trimmed in case of harms from stones and so on.

The production of the Paddles are done with handtool, and a good eyemeasure. Not two paddles will thus be the same, also because there are no two exactly the same piece of wood.


 Paddles are either painted, or most commonly, impregnated with an oil of my own recipe. It is made from linseed olie and kanaubawax. The Paddles are treated 10 times with 3 different mixes. The surface is completely waterproof, and pleasant to touch.

The lacquered paddles are painted 5 times with Hempel Duo Glos. They are good to hold on, but a bit smoother than the oil treated. The grip can be improved with a very mild abrasive with a grid 400 paper meant for wetgrinding.


Maintenance:
Simply rubbed the Paddle with a rag with linseed oil when you feel the need. If the oil is gently warmed to 50-60 degrees, it penetrates better into the wood. If the paddle begins to look dull, or is not so nice to hold, as when it was new, you can purchase a finished oil / wax mixture with me. Look under Products.
Keep the cloth in a metal box with tight-fitting metal lid or burn it after use. It can even ignite.
The varnished paddle should be abraded and painted with Hempel Duo Glos, if it gets scratches going into the tree.
Paddles can naturally be shiped to me for a touch up.
